I got the chance to interview Matt Foss, our Interim Dean of Liberal Arts, and found out some interesting personal thoughts and background information. Foss grew up in a rural town in Missouri and attended Scotland County High School. After high school, Foss attended Northeastern State college, now called Truman State College in Missouri.

Over the past 40 years there have been many breakthroughs in technology. Computers are everywhere; they no longer occupy a whole room. Cell phones have made it possible to get a hold of anyone at any time. Digital cameras alike have made it possible for us to remember everything, because of their small size and large memory cards.

Apathy Shows Intercollegiate Athletics the Door

The student life committee did not see fit for intercollegiate varsity sports to remain at NHCC. Not because there was issues with the budget; but rather issues with today's demographic of the student. As well as the lack of interest shown by the everyday student.

The Must List

1.) "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End"
I know this film won't be out for another week and a half but I encourage you all to see this film. As a fan of the trilogy I for one can't wait to see what happens to Captain Jack Sparrow.
2.) "Spiderman 3"
I'll admit typically I am not a huge Spidey fan but I saw this film opening night and it was awesome.

Ask Ryan

Dear Ryan,
As you may or may not know, about a month ago, depending on when or even if this was to go to print, Captain America died as part of the Civil War crossover in the Marvel Universe. My question to you, if you have any idea what I'm talking about is, what will Marvel be without it's number one boy in red, white and blue?

Review: The Bacchae

The Bacchae, the spring theatre production, was like no other that I have seen before. With a mixed setting of now and then, a somewhat futuristic scene in Thebes, the production seemed to attract a different feel. Although the production is about an ancient Greek tragedy, a few comical scenes were displayed.

Well as the semester winds down it is a time to reflect. For those who are leaving NHCC a time to remember everything you learned here. As someone who has been here for the past three years I have learned a lot. I learned about just being me and having fun.
